DBs AND QBs MAIN GOAL OF THUNDER SEARCH

DAYTONA BEACH , Fla. – The good news is that Daytona Beach Thunder defensive back Nick Allison moved up to the Orlando Predators. The bad news is that Nick Allison moved up to the Orlando Predators.

Such is the task awaiting Head Coach Leon Bright when he conducts his second tryout for the 2007 season Saturday morning at Sperling Sports Complex in DeLand.

“We definitely need to fill the void Nick left,’’ Bright said. “But I think there’s enough talent in the area. It should be an interesting morning.”

The Thunder’s other need is quarterback.

“I tell you, if there is a way [ Florida State back-up] Xavier Lee could play for us and still keep his NCAA eligibility, we need to find it,” kidded Bright, a former Seminole star.

“That’s the kind of talent that wins championships. I know there’s not another Xavier out there, but if we can find someone half as good as that we’re in good shape." Registration is at 8 a.m. with workouts beginning at 9 a.m. The fee is $50 and includes a t-shirt. For more information, e-mail lbright@dbthunder.net
