First Inaugural Banquet 2006 Victory Lane Racing Association

The Victory Lane Racing Association held it's first Inaugural Banqueton Sunday the 12th of February 2006.The Indigo Lakes Golf Club ballroom was filled with race car drivers from yesterday and today, car owners, engine builders, mechanics and of course race fans. Victory Lane Racing is the newest auto racing organizations located in the greater Daytona Beach area. Walt Keller is the firstpresident of this popular racing club and he welcomed those in attendance and then he introducedRoland Via, Mayor of Holly Hill as the inauguralMaster of Ceremonies. NASCAR's very own Buzz Mckimgave the invocation and thena most delicious meal was served while the D.J. Speedy Show provided the musical soundsto add to the ambience of the evening. Roland put hisracing expertise to work after dinnerbybringing Trish Yunick Brown to the stage. Trish presented the Smokey Yunick Achievement Award to Ralph Johnson and Roland added his historic comments about Ralph and Smokey. Vice president Zetta Baker presented the Woman in Racing Award to Lois Taylor who wasfull of racing stories from her dayson race tracks all around thecircuit. Curtis Crawfish Crider called in sick and thanked everyone for recognizing his careerwith Francis Flock presenting him with the Tim Flock Drivers Award. June VogtWendt presented the Red Vogt Mechanics&Engineering Award to Dan Elliott and the Presidents Award was presented to our very own club treasurer Jennifer Mason. In memory of Clifford and Davey Allison, Roland Via presented Larry Flynn with theShort Track Drivers Award on dirt. Rolandtold everyone that Larry raced so fast that he got the nickname ''The Flying Irishman''. The entire Flynn family stood with Larry on the stage for the presentation. Leroy Potter ''Leapin Leroy'' received the Short Track Drivers Award for asphalt by Ralph Hart ownerof the New Smyrna Speedway. Ralph invitedeveryone to his race track and told them to show their name tags to get a free admission during Speedweeks. The The Alan Kulwicki Awardpresented to Kevin Cwinski by Joe Miller and the Sports Media Award was presented to Ken Willis. Pam Roberts presented the Glenn ''Fireball'' Roberts Hard Charger Award on behalf of her family to Rex White. Rex had no idea that he was going to receive this prestigious award and he was a little lost for words. The rest of the evening consisted of door prizes forall supplied by Rick and Shirley along withmusic and dancing by D.J. Speedy.
