Description:

The Central and North Florida Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association present a Caregiver Education Conference – a time for rest and renewal – at Daytona Beach Community College on Friday, November, 4, 2005 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This is a free event made possible by support from an anonymous $100,000 gift dedicated to caregiver services for Volusia County residents. The conference will feature Joan, Learmann, CNA, a Reiki Therapist; Cheryl Laubner, Laughter Therapist from Hospice of Volusia/Flagler; and Dr. Kinne, M.D., who will lecture on advances and research in Alzheimer’s disease. There will be a breakfast, prize drawings and a caregiver video presented by Cando Event Planning. The Central & North Florida Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association provides valuable community programs such as care consultation services for families struggling to manage care at home, 25 monthly support groups and “24/7 Helpline,” a phone number families can call anytime day or night for advice and encouragement. The programs are priceless to the estimated 100,000 people in Central Florida living with Alzheimer’s and the more than 500,000 family caregivers directly affected by the degenerative brain disease. It is estimated that there are more than 17,000 people diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in Volusia and Flagler counties. Respite care and/or reimbursement is available with pre-registration. Transportation is available from DeLand. Call 1-800-272-3900 for reservations and information.
