Cool off this summer with flute performances at DBCC
(Daytona Beach, Fla. 06/21/06) - New for the 2006 summer season, two flute performances presented by the Cultural Arts Department at Daytona Beach Community College (DBCC) will be sure to entertain and refresh your cultural appetite.
A flute recital by DBCC faculty will be presented on Sunday, July 9 at 7:30 p.m., featuring solo works for the flute, piccolo and alto flute by TereAsa Payne with piano accompaniment by Amy Crane. The performance includes pieces from France, England, Austria, Russia and the USA.
Payne, a classically trained flutist, is an adjunct instructor of Flute and Chamber Music at both DBCC and Bethune-Cookman College. An accomplished clarinet, saxophone, and ethnic flute player, Payne delves into may worlds of music, including classical, Broadway, jazz, and pop music.
The newly formed DBCC/Community Flute Choir will present its inaugural concert, Tuesday, July 25 at 7:30 p.m., performing works that incorporate multiple flutes, including piccolos and alto flutes.
Both performances take place in the DBCC Theater Center (bldg. 220) on the DBCC Daytona Beach Campus located at 1200 W. Int'l Speedway Blvd.
Performances are open to the public and tickets may be purchased for $5. Proceeds from ticket sales are used to support the Performing Arts Scholarship program at DBCC.
