Move Over Martha - Dixie Ray
Live Your Dream
2005-09-07
Article Written by: Sami Jo

People have dreams. Some want to become astronauts, some want to become doctors, some want to be rock stars, etc. This article is going out to those who want to become writers. You can get published; it can happen. Just take local writer Dixie Ray for example. Dixie has worked as a bank teller, mortgage broker, stock broker, and has been in the car business for the last 10 years. According to her, she's done it all. Then, while being forced to stay home due to some problems with high blood pressure, she decided she wanted to write a cookbook. After seven months of total write time, the book was finished. "People kept saying to me, 'I thought about it and thought about it, but you did it,'" Dixie tells us. She almost tried to hide her self-confidence, but it was obvious.

Dixie's book, Move Over Martha, is a cookbook designed to help newlyweds and others make not only a meal, but also create ambiance while getting everything to the table at the same time. She includes tips on decorating the table and bringing back the romance. Her cookbook covers all types of foods from appetizers to a Thanksgiving feast. In addition to writing the book, she also designed the cover.

Move Over Martha is currently available at Amazon.com, select Barnes and Noble stores, and on the Barnes and Noble website. Dixie decided to self-publish instead of going through a publishing company. Dixie's advice to others who want to be published is to write when you are in a good mood and "don't let anybody tell you no!" If becoming a writer is your dream, follow it. You'll be amazed at what you can accomplish when you give your dream a chance.
