THE MENTAL HEALTH ASSOCIATION OF VOLUSIA

The Mental Health Association announces “Mental Illness Awareness Week” – October 1st through October 7th, 2006. Our goal is to raise awareness and educate the public about mental illness and to erase the stigma of mental illness throughout our area. On October 2nd on the steps of the Daytona Beach City Hall, at 10:30 AM – 12:00 Noon – we will kick off the week’s activities with proclamations declared on behalf of the City, County, State and Nation, as we in Volusia turn our focus to mental illness in concert with others throughout our nation. Our guest Speaker is Marifrances Gullo, M.S.N., Nurse Practitioner. The event will conclude with Walk for Dignity - where community members will “Walk the Walk” showing their commitment on behalf of the mentally ill. We invite you to come and participate in this event. A light lunch and refreshments will be served.

For further information call: Mental Health Association - 386-252-5785 – Gail Gregory.
