We have the same problem with club boom ormond beach. my boyfriend cancelled his policy feb 25, paid the remaining balance through june and in writing stated he did not want to renew the policy. club boom made him a copy of his statement and credit card receipt. yet they are still taking payments out monthly and this month an annual renewal fee. we are getting the runaround from ormond beach who now says a girl at daytona beach can fix this mess. i have been leaving messages for six weeks. either they are with a client and will get back with me or they just "stepped out". i wonder how any work gets done, they step out so much. never are phone calls returned. we are going to small claims court. also we have a friend who believes she is now trapped until 2010 but according to joe at ormond beach once they renew it is only month to month. I wonder.

I have moved to Orlando and do not go to the gym anymore but they keep taking the monthly payment out of my account:o(

I am still going to go see club boom, but when I called about membership info., did not feel like they really want me, couldn't get any info., I was rushed off the phone! Gold's Gym treated me very courteous, especially since they took the time to talk to me and realized I am in the military and serve my country. Hope I get better service when I go there in person.

Great gym, tons of equipment, plenty of free weights

Gotta love Boom. Everyone is friendly, I am comfortable going there and don't feel like I'm being judged. I'm not a perfect "Barbie Doll" type and Boom doesn't make me feel out of place.

Great gym, love the classes, the different rooms where you can get away from everyone, love the staff! However, Boom closing at 10:30 now, SUCKS!

Club Boom sucks

mike said on Wednesday, April 9th 2008
Jeff, I am glad you are an operator and have dealt with people like me in the past. Let me go over the facts again. When I joined Club Boom the advertisement for what I wanted was not true. To make sure of what the advertisement said I asked the salesman and he told me a lie. I learned of this three weeks later and asked for my money back. The manager said it would take 4-6 weeks to get my money and that I was not allowed to use the club. He in addition told me he was an owner. When I talked to the owner he told me the manager said he did not say I would get a refund and then he told me he was not an owner. I have run my own business and others that dwarf Club Boom in revenue and if I found out that one of my salesman had lied(he admitted it) I would do what was necessary to rectify the situation. As far as dealing with people like me you must mean you do not deal with honest people who are heterosexual. So go with your other gay owners and continue to lie to the public.

mike said on Wednesday, April 9th 2008
Jeff, I thought additionally what you said. I wonder what you would do if you bought something and found out that the salesman lied. According to you, you would not expect the company to give you your money back. You must have graduated from one of those great Texas colleges if that is how you do business down in the great state of Texas.

steve said on Monday, April 7th 2008
My membership ended two months ago. I told them in person and in writing that I did not want to renew. Guess what the very ethical people at Club Boom are still taking money out of my account. They sure are ethical. All the good reviews have to be written by employees.

Jeff said on Monday, April 7th 2008
Ok, I just happened to be on this website and read a lot of what "Mike" has written. I happened to be a club operator in Texas and I've run into guys like this in the past. They make a lot of noise and hopefully the owner will give in to make them happy. Now, I have never been to Club Boom and I probably never will, but just out of spite from having to deal with guys like "Mike" before, I pray they don't give him one red cent. Now go ahead "Mike" and insult me and everyone else who comments positively about Club Boom (like I know you will) because that's all the satisfaction you'll ever get!

I checked them all out and then joined this one. Has everything I need to train and it's open late.

Killer free weight room

julie said on Monday, March 31st 2008
Simply a nice place to work out. Clean, lots of machines, nice people. I'm sure the negative reviews are written by competitors...how dumb. Check it out for yourself, the only decent health club in Daytona.

Melonie said on Saturday, March 29th 2008
Wow...I guess when you have as many members as they do, you come across some wack jobs! Here's the real deal...Boom is great, the staff is great, fun classes, nice equipment. I haven't had any problem with ABC financial, but perhaps it's because I pay my bills!! :)

Wayne said on Saturday, March 29th 2008
Great place to train. Best free weight room in town by far.

mike said on Saturday, March 29th 2008
Melonie I am glad that you pay your bills, but unlike you who has to pay by the month I did pay my bill for a full year in advance. Now why would they tell me I cannot work out there and that they would give me my money back and then say no. Also I hope you got one of those discounted deals or did you pay full price.

mike said on Wednesday, March 26th 2008
Dear Keith, I would love to let it go but you see the faggots that run the club told me they were going to give me my money back and then they said no. Now why would they lie. Also I hope your paycheck does not bounce.

Keith said on Tuesday, March 25th 2008
Mike isnt this March let it go. If you dont like the club stay out but for us who like it stop complaining over water you are a joke. Just go to a new club and let it go. Your making yourself look like a complete idiot.

Mike said on Sunday, March 23rd 2008
Another day another discount. How do all you people feel about being ripped off by this great club. The true show of a successful club is one that does not have to discount itself every other day. Also why is it so hard to find people to work there. That hiring sign has been up for a long time.

Lace said on Tuesday, March 18th 2008
I like Club Boom! but the prices are too much!! I paid $100 down and $40 a month! i want to cancel my membership but it's going to cost more to cancel it! Everyone go to beach street gym.. it's only $100 for the whole year!

John said on Friday, February 22nd 2008
As a gym owner, (not boom) I deal directly with the same billing company, ABC Financial. The policy that the billing company enforces is whatever the gym owner dictates. Also, after the account is past due for 3 months, ABC's policy is to turn the account over to the collection agency of the owner's choice. Any and all hostilities should be directed towards the gym owners in question. Forward all complaints to the BBB or the Dept of Agriculture, as these agencies govern have power over all fitness facilities in FL.

Club Boom is great, I love it, my kids love the childcare. I recommend checking it out!

kristy said on Sunday, February 3rd 2008
Actually Kay, all of the gyms in town have the same billing company. I checked it out and they all use the same people. Just like anything you sign anywhere, whether it's a car dealership, cable company or gym, be sure you know all the facts.

BILL said on Sunday, February 3rd 2008
I really like attending Boom. The staff is nice and the place is clean unlike other gyms I have been to. I like how the free weight room is separate and has all the neon. Makes it a great atmosphere to train in.

Matt said on Wednesday, January 30th 2008
Mike seriously if you could focus on your goals as much as you do a bottle of water you could live a very long time. Get over it. Ill go in and get my normal 2 cases for my whole family haha!!! Club is good you dont want a contract pay a little extra and get month to month its very simple

mike said on Wednesday, January 30th 2008
Matt, do you work for the club too. It is not about the water, but about the fact that Paul told me that it was unlimited (could it be to sell me a membership). Then when Scott told me on September 5, 2007 that I would get a refund in 4-6 weeks, then he said he never said that. As for a month to month contract again you did not read what I said. If Club Boom is so great why is it that they are running "One time only 19.99 specials" more the one time. Maybe you have been breathing too much of the chlorine from the pool. Or maybe the water is too hot in the hot tub (which on more then one occassion I was told was not available because it belonged to the massage studio).

mike said on Tuesday, January 29th 2008
Well for all you guys who said that Club Boom was great and I was the screwed up one. Well how does it feel to be screwed by this great club. How many of you paid full dues and joining fee. Back in December 2007 Club Boom said that for a limited time a one time offer. This was the same offer they are now offering. Why is it that such a great club has to lie and lower there prices to get members. I hope you do not mind spending the HUNDREDS of dollars more then the new suckers.

Kay said on Tuesday, January 29th 2008
ABSOLUTELY do NOT sign a contract here! I am LOCKED in to 3 years at $32 a MONTH, even though I've moved and work in a new location, putting me too far away but too close to break my contract. Management Co. is only concerned with $$$, not my health. So now I'm unable to use my membership, and unable to get a new membership at a convenient gym. Now they're $19 a month? NICE. 3 years, $32 a month. I'm screwed and unfit. Thanks Boom!

Kay said on Tuesday, January 29th 2008
Clarification: It is the management company that is the problem, not the actual gym. The staff are actually very pleasant.

Stephanie said on Monday, January 28th 2008
Just to let everyone know, until January 31st Club Boom is offering enrollment for membership at $19.99 down/19.99 a month!!! i just heard tonite and am telling ALL my friends, so I thought I'd throw it on her too! It's only until Thursday!!! Hurry and get in there to sign-up! It's UNBELIEVABLE that the price got knocked down so low!! And when you go in, ask for Melanie....she is the new cute brunette that works there. She's very nice and professional and really makes you feel comfortable!! Get in there quick! :)

Mike said on Sunday, January 27th 2008
Mark W. I maybe old but not misirable. As I said Paul(salesman) told me that there was no limit when I asked. Now I ask why does a salesman lie when trying to make a sale. Because he knows he is selling an inferior product. You may ask Paul himself if he did not tell me this. Also why did the paper advertising this water program not list a limit. Again false advertising for an inferior product. In fact if you look at the web site you will find other lies about this great gym.

Mark W, said on Saturday, January 26th 2008
Mike everyone knows about one bottle of water as a matter of fact maybe I can get a case of water next time I go in. How does it feel to be old and miserable. I love the club.

Kelly said on Thursday, January 24th 2008
Mike are you crazy. Scott is the best manager that place has ever had always smiling and always having fun with all the members and kids. I understand you may be jealous he is very easy on the eyes. Ladies check him out and see for yourself. Club Boom is great.

mike said on Thursday, January 24th 2008
Kelly Scott might be easy on the eyes but he is a typical salesman. He is a liar. On the day of our disagrement he at first told me there was no owner there when I asked to speak to one. A few minutes later he said he was one of the owners. Which lie do you believe. When I talk to the owner he told me that Scott was definitily not an owner (maybe a poser). When Scott told me that the paper advertising the water program listed a number of bottles per day I asked him to show me this paper. When he did show me there was no limit listed then he babled somthing that only a true salesman/liar would say. As far as looking good on the eyes I can only guess you like women, as Craig (the one who supposidly saw the encounter) said he was a women. I say you can have any sexual orientation you want, but maybe the other women aren't inclined like you. I am just quoting your co-worker Craig from Club Boom.

mike said on Wednesday, January 23rd 2008
Well Craig L. you were not there the day of my explosion because it did not happen at the bar and I did not ask for 6 bottles of water. I asked for 2 like I had been getting up until then in the morning. In addition I did not cuss at all and my argument was with a man not a women (well maybe he is a women dressed as a man I am sure you would know). Scott (man or women) told me I would receive my membership refund as I had paid for a full year. Six weeks later he said he never said such a thing (maybe it is the steroids or hormones for the women. Another member overheard the whole thing and told me I was in the right. So a suggestion Craig you should only talk about what you know about and stay off the hormones so you will not lose your memory. Maybe you are the club employee that writes all the good comments.

Mike said on Wednesday, January 23rd 2008
In addition Craig if you ask Paul the salesman he told me that there was no limit on water and infact the advertisement for the water service did not state a limit. But then again they call that bait and switch which seems the only way they can get members. I have joined the YMCA and at a lower rate and much better service. They don't lie when they are signing you up.

mike said on Wednesday, January 23rd 2008
Craig if Club Boom is so great then how come when they are told that the wrong phone number and address is listed on the internet that they do not fix it. It has been over 4 months since they were told.

Diane said on Tuesday, January 8th 2008
I really like this place. Everyone is really nice and I feel comfortable going in. I am a "big" girl and this is the first gym where I feel like I am welcome. Plus, the weight room guys are separate so I don't have to feel funny in front of them.

Boom is a very nice health facility. the staff is very helpful. My trainer Joy is very good and knows how to work around my bad back. Go to Boom, you will like it.

Samantha V. said on Wednesday, December 5th 2007
I LOVE Boom! Big gym, lots to do, great staff, and they even have a golf cart service to escort me to my car when it's dark. My only complaint is that they shut down the childcare at 7:30pm, wish it was later....but I can understand why since most of the kids are gone around 7pm anyway. Boom gets my vote!!

Ellen said on Sunday, December 2nd 2007
I have been a member at Boom for over a year now. The staff is friendly, the place is SPOTLESS and I am very comfortable there! I would recommend this gym to anyone. I have a feeling that the negative comments here are written by staff from the other gyms in the area. Check out Boom! You won't be disappointed!!

craig L. said on Sunday, December 2nd 2007
You can read my earlier post, I've been a member of Boom for a long time now and was there the day this guy got ticked off about his water service. He tried to get the poor girl working behind the bar to give him SIX bottles of water rather than the ONE bottle that everyone else gets. When she said that he could only have one, he snapped and started screaming cussing at her. Well, they threw the guy out for causing a scene because this is a nice place and things like that just aren't tolerated. I'm glad they keep the place nice and don't let people act like animals like they do in most gyms. I still give Boom a HUGE thumbs up.

mike said on Friday, November 2nd 2007
When I joined club boom I opted for the water program. The paper that offered this did not give a quantity limit so I asked the salesperson (Paul) about this and he told me there was no limit per day. Three weeks later the GM (Scott) told me that there was a limit and that it stated that on the paper. When we looked it did not and he mumbled somthing. When I asked for a refund (I had paid for a year in full) he told me it would take 4-6 weeks. When I said that I would keep working out till then he and another employee blocked my way. They took my card and now state that he never said I would get a refund. The club is just interested in getting new members which is evident by the lying salespeople and the false ads that they post outside. They are so stupit that they listed the wrong phone number and address in the Yellow Pages. Some real winners!!!!

Bill said on Saturday, September 22nd 2007
I tried a trial and only went once. Now they're trying to sue me for over $1,000. Most expensive free trial I've ever had. I go to Planet Fitness now.

Club Boom has lost my vote! I have been a member since it was Omega. Since it became Boom they are neglecting the equipment, no working jacuzzi, the showers are gross. I try to use the lockers (that they charge extra for) and they rarely have any available because they are all broken. The cario room audio equipment longer works so the volume is up on every tv so loud I can't hear my IPod. The parking lot has almost no lighting and I do not feel safe walking to my car at night. And now to top it all off, they have decided not be stay open 24 hours and are closing at midnight. The hours were the only reason I put up with all the other crap...I am so done.

Love this place. Big, clean, lots of equipment and everyone is always friendly. I give Boom a big thumbs up!

susan g said on Thursday, June 21st 2007
I am a member there and my son cancelled his memberhsip when he moved away to college and it was no problem. All he had to do was give proof that he moved away. It was no big deal for him. An another note. I LOVE the place. It's always clean and the equipment is brand new. They are allways adding new equipment and are making it nice for the members.

Marion said on Wednesday, May 23rd 2007
This is probably a great club, although I cant help but feel I was taken advantage of to some degree. I was young/stupid and signed up for a membership. I mentioned repeatedly I would only be able to be there for the summer and that I would need to cancel when I went off to college. The lady told me I could cancel my membership (the two year contract she was pushing on me) when I went to college, NO PROBLEM she said. That of course is not the way things work. I enjoy how they are suing me (college student, no job). Its alright though, I'm sure they need my 1200 dollars for the months I wont and haven't been there. There goes next semester. I only hate how they are cold and ruthless. Don't sit around and pray for these people to be lenient or friendly when it comes to contracts... remember they have another company handling finances since there has been issues in the past. It is a nice gym however, nice equipment and some good employees. Just make sure you read everything carefully and DONT trust the person who signs you up (they do make commission for every membership). Ive learned my lesson, take heed and be careful with this gym.

Cathy said on Wednesday, January 3rd 2007
I was really intimidated to go to a gym, but right when I walked in the door at Boom, everybody was super friendly and helpful. I felt right at home from the first day. Great place for women

Craig L. said on Wednesday, January 3rd 2007
Just moved here from Jersey...I worked out at NY Sportsclubs up there and was really bummed when I started looking at the local health clubs, can you say outdated???!! Thankfully someone told me about Boom. The place is what I am used to...huge, stocked with equipment, open 24 hours and a great vibe. Plus, the price is 1/2 of what I was paying up north. Don't even bother going to the other gyms...there is no comparison.

Stephanie Miller said on Sunday, November 5th 2006

Club boom is the best gym however I wish they would get a later morning aerobics class. I work nights and cant make the 9:30 am classes. They would be perfect if they had a 11:00 class everyday.

Sandra, I am definately NOT an employee of Boom, just a happy member. (I'm a proud "Stay At Home Mom") and I can tell you that if you are looking for a health club where you can work out COMFORTABLY and not feel like a slice of meat...then Boom is the place!!

Sandra said on Tuesday, October 10th 2006
Curious, in reading the reviews a statement was made the most of the reviews are from employees. How close to the truth is that? I am looking for a place where you don't feel like meat hanging on a hook and this sounds like it might be worth checking out.

Cathy said on Monday, October 9th 2006
I am a member at Boom and signed up for 24 months because it was $10 a month less to do it! They have an awesome transfer policy to over 2,000 clubs in case I move. If you sign up for two years, you pay for two years. Just like if you lease a car for three years, you pay for three years...you can't just turn it in and quit paying whenever you want. They also have month-to-month if don't want a contract, the price is just slightly higher to do it that way. The club is awesome and there is nothing even close to it anywhere near here. They are friendly, non-intimidating and very helpful. Now that Gwen's is gone, there is nowhere else in town that is anywhere near as female friendly...it's definately not a meat market. On top of that, it has enough of new equipment for three whole gyms!!

Susan said on Monday, October 9th 2006
We just moved here and looked at every club. We joined Boom because it was by far the nicest, cleanest club in town. That $25 yearly fee you talked about is common on the West Coast. All the upscale clubs do it so that they can make improvements above and beyond what dues can do, every single year. You won't find this at a low price facility that caters to hardcore bodybuilders. People like us that belong to more exclusive health clubs expect more. Club Boom gets my thumbs up.

molly said on Monday, October 9th 2006
As a woman in my early 40's I can truly appreciate what Boom Racuqet and Fitness does. They give me a friendly hello every time I walk in. The staff is always helpful, everything is clean all the time and plenty of new, nice equipment. Most importantly, I always feel comfortable and not on display. There are plenty of women just like me there who aren't in perfect shape, but want to get there and don't feel self conscious while we are in the gym.

kellypj said on Monday, October 9th 2006
Club Boom Rocks!! They are open 24 hours and have everything you need!! It is a fun place to not only workout, but hang out with your friends. If you are going to spend your $$ on a health club, join one that does it right and makes it a great, enjoyable experience!! Club Boom is the only gym in town that does it right!!!

e said on Tuesday, October 3rd 2006
Please _make sure_ to read your contract from Club Boom! We were told that we could cancel our membership at any time, and just pay a $150 cancellation fee. Well, upon reviewing the contract it said that it was NON-CANCELLABLE after 30 days unless you were sick or moving. Thank God we were moving or we'd be stuck paying out our contract for the next 2 years! PLEASE read your contract before signing up. We _never_ would have signed if we knew we couldn't cancel. However we were told otherwise. Our fault for not reading it carefully, I know. By the way, we still haven't gotten the cancellation to go through, because we had to fax our electric bill and wedding certificate to a collection agency. They haven't gotten back to us as of yet. Calling the Club will get you nowhere.

xeno said on Monday, September 4th 2006
Yes, club boom is still pretty good. I did get a letter in the mail the other day stating a $25 assesment fee that is manditory to pay. It does leave one to wonder what we pay our memebership for if we still get a bill ON TOP of our memebership bill. They also need 18-lb. dumbells!!! Xeno

Erik, you definately dont defeat any body builder stereotypes with your speeling skills thats for sure hehe. Club Boom is good. It's definately the best gym anywhere around the Daytona area. When you go to Golds you feel like your being judged the whole time because all you see are Barbie Dolls or muscle heads. Most gyms are total meat markets. Boom has a good variety of people. Obese people getting in shape, alot of seniors, normal people, and very athletic people. The staff is extremely friendly and the other members dont make you feel weird or like they are judgemental at all. 2 stories! (3 actually i guess) everything from jacuzzi's in the locker rooms to heated pool outside and raquet ball/weights/cardio etc. how can you go wrong! I would say the people that go there are more interested in getting in shape than the other meat market type gyms where most people are looking for a hook up while they work out. Club Boom= higher class. and from what I saw when I was shopping around the price was almost the same, if not the same as other gyms in the area that had far less to offer.

Sara said on Monday, June 26th 2006
I have to disagree with the last post. Club Boom is always doing all kinds of things for their members! I am a senior and they have a free coffee social for us every Tuesday and Thursday plus free assistance on the weight machines. They have a video game night for the young people, movie nights every week where they play a movie on all the TV's with sound. My daughter utilizes their monthly "parents night out" where they have a free party for the kids so that the parents can go out. They also have a social for all the members every other Wednesday night where they bring in free food, local vendors and play trivia. How can you say they don't take care of us members?? They are great at Club Boom...I used to be a member at Golds and they didn't do anything for us except open the doors. I am so glad that I switched...I recommend Club Boom to all my friends!!

Kathy said on Monday, June 26th 2006
I have to disagree with the negative post too!! I take aerobics at Club Boom and I go at 7:30 at night! They have three classes going on at once in three different rooms all the way from 5:30 to 7:30 every night!! Call and ask them!! I think that the person who posted that works at one of the lesser gyms in town!!

Xeno said on Monday, June 26th 2006
Club boom is pretty good. As far as equipment goes, the Cybex machines and other weight machines are great. Lots of dumbells. Wish it was open 24 hours on Fri, Sat, and Sun though. Bit pricey. Best facility in Daytona, hands down, but new Gold's may give it a run both on price and extent of equipment. Xeno

Parking lot is in poor shape and frequently overfilled. Great majority of classes are between 9-5, in which case people who work cannot attend them. Staff is nice and friendly (they're the ones who also filled out reviews here), however the focus is on new memberships and not giving more to those who are already members. Consider Gold's or YMCA.

Club Boom is great, being a single mother I am able to workout with ease. My son attends their daycare while I work out and he loves it. They even have an area where you can check on your little ones to help ease your mind. It is absolutely the best gym I have ever been to! And the staff are really friendly as well. Check it out!

as a long term bodybuilder (for over 10 years)and health enthusiast. Club boom meets each and every one of my fitness goals. Club boom rises the bar in gyms in volusia county. They far exceed every other gym I been to. One word I think of when I think of club boom is supriority to other gyms. They are suprior in quality of aerobic instructors and personal fitness instructors to nautilus, cybex, and hammer machines. Bottom line is they have everything you can ever need under one roof. There no reason to anywhere else but to club boom.
