A visit to the chiropractor is common practice for the victims of car accident and for those people who experience back and neck pain. However, many people do not realize that chiropractic health is more than correcting existing spinal problems, it is also important for preventative maintenance.
Dr. Cathy Moustopoulos, of Beachside Chiropractic in Daytona Beach, tells us our bodies are designed to compensate when the spine becomes out of line by creating extra bone in the misaligned vertebrate. While this prevents us from experiencing the symptoms of a misaligned vertebrate (i.e. pain), it can increase the chance of arthritis later on in life. Preventative maintenance care helps keep us healthy and prevent future issues.
Dr. Cathy opened Beachside Chiropractic in 2002, and is a firm believer in educating her patients to help them maintain good health. We visited her office to get the inside scoop on chiropractic care. During the interview, I had the pleasure of sitting in the extremely relaxing massage chair. Dr. Cathy demonstrated how the spine works with a model of the spine. She described how misaligned vertebrate can interfere with the brain’s ability to communicate properly with the body. She also described how smoking, stress and other factors may cause problems in the spine and nerves. A healthy, properly aligned spine allows the nervous system to properly control the function of virtually every cell, tissue, organ, and system of your body.
Taking pain medications may alleviate the symptoms, however, chiropractic care treats the cause and corrects it. Dr. Cathy says, “Anyone from ages 3 to 103 can benefit from chiropractic care”. Beachside Chiropractic also provides massage therapy on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Beachside Chiropractic is located at 940 North Halifax Avenue, Daytona Beach, FL 32118. For information and appointments, call 386.255.4338.
