I had the wonderful opportunity to meet Linda Cole at Chops By Martini during her dinner show. She is quite an artist extraordinaire who began singing at age 3. We arrived at 7pm and had a nice dinner. At 8pm, Linda Cole began singing. Her voice is amazing. She began with a song called "Time After Time", followed by "Have I Told You Lately". She then told the crowd a bit of history about the birth of jazz before singing "A-Train". I was excited to learn that she had sung with Ray Charles and that she is putting together a musical tribute to him. Her voice filled the room with his great song "Georgia".
Linda Cole has been an entertainment figure in the area since 1991. She is a freelance vocalist/musician and performs at area country clubs, restaurants and community functions. She is the cousin of the late great Nat King Cole, which is something that I find very exciting. She went on to sing "Route 66", which is a Nat King Cole song, and I loved the sound effects she made imitating the sound of the car engine revving.
She will be performing on the 18th of June at the Ormond Beach Symphony Performing Arts Center. This will be a patriotic tribute to the soldiers in Iraq, and she will be performing pieces such as "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and "He Ain't Heavy - He's My Brother".
At the end, she thanked the crowd and everyone yelled, "Encore!!". She took them up on the request and did an a-cappella, which was just wonderful.
Afterward, I had the opportunity to talk with her, and was excited to hear some stories about her wild times with Aretha Franklin. We purchased her three CDs and she signed and kissed each one. Linda Cole is a wonderful vocalist and a genuine person and it is great to know that she is a member of the Daytona Beach community. I encourage everyone to take the opportunity to hear her perform.
Additionally, I need to mention that other local vocalists performed including Sharon Hammond, who recently won the Daytona Beach Star local talent search, Melissa Stuck, and Elisabeth Jakovenko. Everyone sounded great.

Me and my husband first met her when she did a performance with the Altamonte Jazz Ensemble last month at the Hilton in Altamonte Springs. She sounded great, my husband slipped in that we were having our ring ceremony on July 2 at 5pm at the church that we attend; she told us that she would try to attend. Later on, we saw her again perform at the Lake Brantley High School auditorium with the same jazz group. We said Hi to her and went on our separate ways. Our ring ceremony was on July 2,2005; to our surprise, she showed up to sing 2 songs at our wedding reception.
God bless this woman!!
