Located in the heart of the Downtown area, just south of the intersection of International Speedway Boulevard and Beach Street, The Dancing Avocado Kitchen has become a haven for Daytona’s business professionals, beach bums, and everyone in between. With its funky and eclectic atmosphere, tasty and nutritious entrees, and the ever-present influence of Chef Mario’s impeccable taste, this restaurant literally offers something for everyone.
Some vegetarians and vegans find it more than a little bit difficult to find a restaurant that offers more for them than a side salad and a glass of water. At the DAK, though, the breakfast and lunch menus are packed with exciting items that are both healthy and delicious. The Vegetable & Tofu Scramble, served with taters and toast, or the Hummus Tomato Bagel are both great ways to start your morning. Just be sure to get there before 11:00 a.m. or you’ll miss out. Even if you miss the breakfast deadline, though, there is still plenty for herbivores to enjoy for lunch at the DAK. There are way too many menu choices for us to mention them all, but be sure to check out their many made-from-scratch soups, salads and sandwiches. The Dancer is a favorite among the locals, but the Barbafu (tofu) is also guaranteed to satisfy, as long as you don’t mind your fingers getting a little sticky.
You can be certain, though, that the Kitchen does not discriminate against those of us who enjoy a little more meat in our diets. Menu items like the Dave Burger, Paninis, Quesadillas, Baja Plates and Burritos are sure to keep you coming back for more, and if you add to these the special treats like fresh squeezed juices and specialty sauces they’ve got more than any other spot in town.
The Dancing Avocado Kitchen is about more than an excellent menu, though; it is a mentality, a philosophy, and a way of life. They take special care to make healthy choices at every turn. They carefully choose paper products and invest the necessary extra time to recycle everything possible. For the health and comfort of all patrons, they offer you a smoke-free environment even on their outdoor patios, and they have custom air filters installed throughout the facility. They use 100% cholesterol-free canola oil to fry the tortilla chips, water packed dolphin-free white tuna, sea salt, raw honey, whole wheat and soy products.
Once you have visited the Dancing Avocado Kitchen and experienced for yourself the friendly, knowledgeable staff and service and the excellent menu choices, you’re sure to understand what all of the buzz is about. Positive or not, be sure to share your thoughts and opinions with Mario and his crew as comments are not only accepted, they are encouraged. As a smaller organization, they are very receptive to the voices of their customers and friends. After you’ve fallen in love with the place, which we truly believe you will, visit the DAK pantry and take home a t-shirt, some sauces or another little piece of the restaurant for yourself. Whether you are committed to a particular lifestyle, interested in living a little healthier, or just looking for a great place to grab a bite, the Dancing Avocado Kitchen has everything you are looking for and more.
The Kitchen is located at 110 S. Beach Street, but you can check out the entire menu at www.avocadokitchen.net. You can also call ahead with your breakfast or lunch order by calling (386) 947-2022. They are open 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
