DBCC to host Yuletide Medieval Feaste

Formerly known as the Madrigal Dinner, tickets are now on sale for the Yuletide Medieval Feaste, Dec. 4, 5 & 6 at 6:30 nightly in the J. M. Goddard Theater (Bldg. 230) on the DBCC Daytona Beach Campus, 1200 W. Int'l Speedway Blvd. Admission is $32. New music, script and set this year!

A Yuletide celebration filled with merriment, good cheer and sumptuous food. Patrons enter the Goddard Theater, which has been transformed into a medieval English castle hall with banners, sword-and-shield sconces and candles by the hundreds, and are treated to a celebration of Christmas by the 60-voice DBCC Concert Choir, the Brass Choir, the Courtly Dancers and the Halifax Consort, all in period costume.

The dinners have been a very popular Christmas event in the area for many years with tickets in demand many weeks in advance. As director Norton Christeson says, "Many people consider the Madrigal Dinner to be the real kick-off of their Christmas season, so they purchase tickets as soon as they can. It is an event guaranteed to generate a warm, meaningful Christmas spirit for all who attend".

"The Yuletide Medieval Feaste will feature new music and dialog, along with a new set designed by Scott Green, theater technical director," commented Christeson. "However, past attendees can rest assured that the "Our Father" dinner blessing has not been cut."

As the dinner is served, music and laughter literally surround the patrons as members of the court mingle and perform throughout the hall. The King and Queen, along with the Royal Court, welcome the guests with toasts, greetings and songs while the jester makes a jovial "fool" of himself.

The audience is invited to participate on numerous occasions, including the singing of Christmas carols with the Royal Court. The Brass Choir and the Halifax Consort provide a suitable early-music accompaniment to the evening's festivities - Wes hale!

Box Office hours are Wednesday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and on Thursdays from 3:30 to 6 p.m. at the DBCC Box Office in the lobby of the Theater Center (220). For additional information, call (386) 506-3042.
