June 27, 2006, DeLand, FL— The 11th Annual Athens Wine Tasting and Auction to benefit the restoration of the Historic Athens Theatre will be held at 5 PM, August 12, 2006 at the DeLand Holiday Inn. The cost of the event is $35 admission per person. The event will feature premium wine tasting hosted by The Elusive Grape, wine importers and industry professionals to facilitate and answer all questions, and a great buffet provided by favorite local restaurants and caterers. All wines tasted will be available for purchase at significant discounts. The event will be hosted by Dave Collins from Magic 107.7, and will also feature a live auction of donated items beginning at 6:30 PM.
Last year’s event was quite successful and raised over $30,000 toward to the restoration of DeLand’s landmark theatre. The Sands Theater Center Board of Directors is hoping for an even more successful event this year as much progress has been made in the restoration efforts, but community support continues to be vital to reach completion. Tickets for this year’s wine tasting are available for purchase at The Sands Theater Center, 600 N. Woodland Blvd., 386-738-7156, The Elusive Grape, 133 N. Woodland Blvd., 386-738-2467, and The Muse Book Shop, 112 S. Woodland Blvd, 386-734-0278. All of the aforementioned businesses are located on the Main Street in DeLand.
The DeLand Holiday Inn is offering a special discount rate for the night of the event. Room reservations must be made by August 1, 2006 to qualify.
