Panera Bread Company arrived in Port Orange several months ago. It is located at 1781 Dunlawton Avenue, in the Target shopping plaza, it is a convenient stop for hungry shoppers. Panera is the place to go when you find yourself tired or burgers and pizza. The sense of an upper class eatery overwhelms you as you walk in the door. The décor is meticulously executed in bold yet soothing colors. There are plenty of booths and tables, both inside and out, for customers to dine. Nothing about this eatery displays a “fast food” quality; the only indicator this is not a formal restaurant is the fact that patrons place orders at the counter and wait for their name to be called when their order is ready. The stress of waiting in line is soothed by samples of bread, bagels and pasteries.
Panera Bread Company is widely known for they wide variety of flavorful breads they offer, but they have so much more. Aside from the plethora of artisan breads, one can also find delectable muffins, pastries, cookies and scones. For breakfast, treat yourself to one of their gourmet bagels and cream cheese or perhaps an egg soufflé. For lunch and dinner, the options are unending. The ever-changing soup menu revolves around the days of the week. Salad lovers will find eight different fresh salad selections, such as the Bistro Steak Salad and the Asian Sesame Chicken Salad. When it comes to the sandwiches on Panera’s menu, one must use their decision-making skills. Are you in the mood for a grilled Panini sandwich like the Portobello Mushroom and Mozzarella, or perhaps an old classic with a twist like the Asiago Roast Beef? Just when a person thinks they are done making decisions, they are offered combinations of a salad, soup, or a sandwich as an alternative to a full portion of just one selection.
Panera offers a take-out service called Via Panera, for those on the go. This special program caters to groups of five or more. This service is great for business meetings, family get-togethers and parties. Panera’s motto claims, “We are home. We are family. We are friends.” The clean, classy atmosphere and great food makes patrons feel like they are in a place maybe even better than home!
