ANNUAL ARMED FORCES SUNDAY TO BE SIMULCAST
Palm Coast, For the eighth consecutive year, St. Mark By The Sea Lutheran Church, will hold their Annual Armed Forces Sunday, on July 2, at 9:00 AM – but this year the service will be heard far beyond the walls of the church. In a special partnership with www.heartbeatofflagler.com a local Internet Radio Station, the broadcast will literally heard around the world.
Kirk Haskell, the owner and operator the Heartbeat of Flagler, has been providing public service announcements as well as sharing the event all of the Heartbeat Stations. Earlier this year, Heartbeat of Flagler provided a simulcast of the Four Chaplains Service. There were over 2,000 computers linked to the broadcast, about half using a low-bandwith connection and the other half using a high-speed connection. There were 326 links in Flagler County alone, with listeners in 40 States across the U.S. and listeners in 20 Countries including Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South and Central America, Europe, India, even in some of the Baltic Countries of Croatia, and the Czech Republic. Even Armed Forces Radio was linked to the broadcast. It is very meaningful to have this service reach the troops.
Our service men and women have always responded to a special calling, serving during peacetime and wartime. They served during armed conflict, on peacekeeping missions, even responding in times of natural disasters, and presently serve in the Middle East conflict. These soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines are most deserving of our thanks and prayers.
This celebration will include special music, prayers for our military and veterans support organizations, and a memorial candle-lighting ceremony for all who have given their lives in service of our country. The name of Florida Active duty military personnel who have died in Iraq this past year is thirty-six, Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines. The church bell is tolled for each and every one of them.
Honored guests will include color guards and uniformed members of the Armed Forces and local veteran support groups, along with local and state public officials. You are all cordially invited to join us in this patriotic salute. And if you are unable to attend, please tune in via the internet at www.heartbeatofflagler.com, go to the “Live Remote Icon” in the upper right of the screen and double-click.
St. Mark By the Sea Lutheran Church is located at 303 Palm Coast Parkway in Palm Coast. We are located east of I-95 just past the SunTrust Bank, on the left. For more information on the Armed Forces Recognition Service, contact the church office at 386/445-3420.
