Celebration of the Diversity of the Caribbean Nations
St Marks by the Sea
2006-07-27
Article Written by: Community Member

Join us in our celebration of the diversity of the Caribbean Nations at St. Mark by the Sea Lutheran Church on Sunday, August 6, 2006 at 9:00 a.m. The public is invited to help us celebrate the gifts this diversity brings to our own community.

The service will include a Caribbean Flag presentation, Caribbean hymns, the Hurricane Prayer, liturgical dancing by Roots 'n Rhythm Folkloric Movement Group, and a special presentation of Habitat for Humanity International in partnership with Thrivent Builds to assist in building homes in the Caribbean, particularly in those areas devastated by recent hurricanes. There will even be a "Taste of the Caribbean” fellowship event to follow the service.

Surprisingly, the second oldest Lutheran Congregation in the Western Hemisphere, dating back to 1666, is in the Caribbean. We are blessed to have members and guests from various Caribbean countries who will participate in this celebration of joy!

St. Mark By the Sea Lutheran Church is located at 303 Palm Coast Parkway, N.E. in Palm Coast. From I-95 take the Palm Coast Exit #289 and head east on Palm Coast Parkway approximately one mile. The church is located in the median past the SunTrust Bank. For more information please contact the Church Office at (386) 445-3420.
