It seems more people in the Daytona Beach area are becoming ambitious each day. With stronger resolve, higher levels of achievement are being reached. Those who have held on through years of perseverance and tribulation are now seeing results; those who have previously been complacent are now striving for greater things. Niceley’s Tavern & Grill, on International Speedway beachside, is now demonstrating this ambition.
Niceley’s Tavern & Grill is more than what it may seem. Plenty of people go there and hang out outside where they can smoke, or they’ll have a seat at the bar on the inside. There is a pool table, dart board, and a juke box. Niceley’s is also a restaurant with a full menu including salads, sandwiches, soups, appetizers, and entrees, and their kitchen is open all night. The main attraction, however, is the part that is undergoing changes.
The main attraction here, is "The Dungeon"…a somewhat downstairs area with a stage for live bands. "The Dungeon" has a whole different vibe to it with gargoyle water fountains, decorative weapons on the walls, and a somewhat dungeon-like appearance with walls made to resemble ancient stone. Archaic style pillars and decorations adorn the room to further enrich the ambiance. Having another bar down here makes the evening much more convenient.

Previously catering to a younger crowd, the venue had bands here who were mostly of a heavier and younger genre.
This Thursday that recently passed, however, brought on a dramatic change. Jake Niceley, Lauren Ellis and Jeff Fedora hit the stage playing an eclectic and stunning performance blending blues, country, bluegrass, and a bit of rock n’roll. Joining them were guest musicians Gil DuBois of Earwaves Digital Recording, Stephen Dees of "The Bandees", and drummer Brian Vestri. They played some covers and some originals, throwing in some random improvisation that resulted in roaring applause.
They’ll be back every Thursday, so plan ahead for this star studded event. Between the all star cast and the ambiance of the bar, you’ll be glad, of course, that you went.
