Ze Bond Rocks - Burnin' Hot (CD Review)
A Tale of Two Rockers
2005-09-21
Article Written by: Benjamin Cameron

"These women are great! Are there 3 or 4?"
"Two"
"What? You gotta be kidding me!"

The above conversation is not uncommon when someone hears Ze Bond Rocks. It is true, however – the band is a cohesive effort of two energetic, no b.s. women, who hit the stage with one main goal – to rock!

With Lyn Ze Bond on guitar and vocals, and Rachel (RC) on drums, a dynamic, explosive, hard rock, sound with a hint of such acts as Black Sabbath, has found its way onto CD with “Burnin’ Hot”.

Make no mistake about it; this is rock ‘n roll pure and true. Lyn’s expressive, sincere lyrics and her well defined chord progressions are like a double edged sword cutting right through the doubts of a closed minded listener. Coupled with the solid and unwavering drumming of RC, whose thunderous power toms, and general musical interpretation resemble a musical safety net of solid steel, and you get a duo with the power to move your spirit.

Track #1, “Slam It” begins with the perfect example. Lyn’s guitar has a great low-end that not only makes you forget there is no bass player, but the riff itself is compelling and makes you want to hear, no…have to hear what comes next. A real page-turner for the ears.

The saga continues on through each piece, and Lyn also demonstrates her ability to harmonize as well as tear through a compelling melodic guitar lead. RC demonstrates a refreshing precision of hand and foot coordination with some well timed split rolls, and supports the music with finesse with her interpretive phrasing and cymbal work.

Seriously, these girls hit it on so hard it seems fitting that there would be an instrumental POOF! There’s an instrumental! (Track #3 – “Metal Horse”)

They close the CD with their own rendition of the Beatles and Ozzy, and I must admit it is most enjoyable to hear these three (oops, I mean two) work their magic on such classics.

Ze Bond Rocks – spunky and sincere. Two women who made a lot of music. Buy their CD at cdbaby.com. Do not miss out.

Lyn Ze passed away from a stroke on August 11th. Help keep her dream alive by purchasing the CD.
