Poker With Class
All In?
2005-11-01
Article Written by: Jillian Smith

Frank Scott is widely known throughout Daytona Beach and the surrounding areas as the morning radio show host on the The HOG (WHOG 95.7), but few people have been exposed to his gambling ways. Until now.

It is estimated that more than fifty-four million people watch “Texas Hold ‘Em” Poker Tournaments on television, but, unfortunately, many of these people never have the courage or opportunity to get out and experience the card game for themselves.  In this, Scott recognized that he could create an opportunity for people to learn to play poker in a fun, no-pressure environment.  Together with his wife and another couple, the strange grouping of an organic food distributor, a broker, a hairdresser and a disc jockey aspired to get local players into real prize-winning tournaments.  With their goals set, the group launched “Poker With Class.” This name was chosen because “class” could mean elegance of style, taste, and manner or a group of students who meet at a regularly scheduled time to study the same subject, but  “class” is only one of many things this company has to offer.

As an evening of festivities with Poker With Class begins, patrons are greeted by Scott or one the other partners who serve as dealers.  To enhance the experience, the dealers dress as exquisitely as the professionals in Las Vegas.  Elimination rounds begin and after a few friendly (though sometimes intense) hands of “Texas Hold ‘Em,” a winner eventually emerges.  Since gambling is illegal outside the walls of casinos or gambling boats (which must be in international waters, at least 3 miles off the coast), prizes are awarded in the form of T-shirts and gift certificates.  Winners also get added to Scott’s “Leader Board” on www.pokerwithclass.com.

Not a great poker player?  No problem!  Poker With Class caters to groups of all different skill levels.  For new players, they provide instruction and tip sheets.  Scott loves meeting people interested in poker and enjoys teaching rookies how to play.  “I feel that we are training a whole new generation of players,” Scott says.  Skill level aside, poker is a rewarding game that takes time and patience.

Poker With Class is also available for private parties, business conferences, charity events, bachelor parties, and many other gatherings.  The company hosts events everywhere from private homes to local restaurant and bars.  They provide everything from the tables, chips, and cards to the dealers. As an added bonus, they can even cater your function or event. They bring party planning to a whole new level of simplicity.  Really, all you have to do is invite the guests and you can leave the rest to them.  “It’s a win-win situation for everyone involved,” says Scott.

Poker With Class would like to see the company grow into a profitable business venture, but for now the group is reinvesting their earnings into advertising and prizes.  However, with the range of services they offer and the “Class” they bring to the table, WHD is betting that the quality experience they provide will inevitably increase their future earnings.  To book your Poker With Class event today or to find out more information, please visit www.pokerwithclass.com.  Poker With Class can also be found every Wednesday at Finnegan’s Daytona from 6-9 pm, every Friday and Saturday at The Stock Exchange from 8-11 pm, and every Monday at Red Tails from 6-9 pm.
