TWO SPECIAL WEEKENDS OF "THE NUTCRACKER" AT DELAND HIGH SCHOOL PRESENTED BY THE ACADEMY OF DANCE ARTS AND SANDS THEATER CENTER
The Academy of Dance Arts and the Sands Theater Center proudly announce a return engagement of last year’s successful "Nutcracker" weekends. School performances of each of the versions will be held on Friday, Dec.8 at 9:15 AM and 11:00 AM in the DeLand High School Auditorium. Tickets will be $5 each with chaperones free. Reservations for these performances and for groups should be directed to Kim Norman at 386-785-0119. On December 9, The Nutcracker Nouveau, will be presented at 7 PM. This modern look at the traditional ballet features jazzy musical arrangements by Duke Ellington. A repeat performance of this show will be on December 10 at 2:30 PM. The following weekend, Dec. 16 at 7 PM and Dec.17 at 2:30 PM, The Nutcracker Classique, will take the stage with the traditional Tchaikovsky score. Both shows feature the play "The Nutcracker" by June Walker Rogers. Tickets for the public performances are $12 for adults and $10 for children under 12 with general admission seating. Tickets will be available at The Sands Theater Center Box Office prior to performances. Call 386-736-7456 for more details. These special holiday performances feature the talents of over 85 local performers and two guest artists Patrick Van Buren of The Orlando Ballet and Tad Williams. Both shows are being co-directed by Kim Norman and Darlene J. Stewart. Choreographers for the shows are Chuck Hoenes, Heather Gleason, John Kemper, Eileen Zielinski, and Kim Norman. The costume designers are Kathy Cramer and Bob Warren. All of these talented individuals are working together to create a truly magical holiday event!
