SANDS THEATER CENTER ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS FOR THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR OF STORYBOOK THEATER COMPANY
DeLand, FL - July 14, 2006—Storybook Theater Company, a division of the Sands Theater Center, will be holding auditions for its 25th Anniversary Touring season Monday, July 31st and Tuesday, August 1 at 10 AM at the theater at 600 N. Woodland Blvd., DeLand, FL. Individuals auditioning need to be available during DAYTIME HOURS to tour to the schools. The company will be performing three shows in repertory from the end of September 2006 thru May 2007. The three shows are "The Emperor’s New Clothes," "Rikki-Tikki-Tavi," and "The Mark Twain Show." Actors may be cast in one or more shows, and actors are needed to be cast as alternates as well. Rehearsals are unpaid and actors will receive a stipend for each performance. Auditions will consist of cold readings and movement exercises. Attendance at both sessions is encouraged, but not necessary to be cast.
Storybook Theater Company has been touring to schools throughout central Florida for the last 25 years. It is an educational theater company that promotes literacy through drama and enhances the school curriculum by bringing "stories to life." The School Board of Volusia County provides a token amount of annual support to the Storybook Theater Company so that they can bring tours to the schools of Volusia County at a reduced rate per show. During a typical school year, Storybook Theater Company visits 2/3 of the schools in Volusia County and entertains over 25,000 children.
