DBCC Cultural Performing Arts Presents, METAMORPHOSES
2006-04-19
Article Written by: Community Member

(Daytona Beach, Fla., 4/18/2006) - The Daytona Beach Community College (DBCC) Cultural & Performing Arts Department presents, METAMORPHOSES, based on the Myths of Ovid, written and originally directed by Mary Zimmerman.

Called by Time the "theater event of the year," Zimmerman's METAMORPHOSES brings Ovid's tales to stunning visual life. Set in and around a large pool of water onstage, METAMORPHOSES juxtaposes the ancient and the contemporary in both language and image to reflect the variety and persistence of narrative in the face of inevitable change.

Directed by David Peshek, METAMORPHOSES is part storytelling and part theatre. This beautiful piece looks at love, loss and the transforming power of life.

The show will run daily, April 20-22 and 27-29 in the J. M. Goddard Center (Bldg. 230) on the Daytona Beach Campus, located at 1200 W. International Speedway Blvd. Show time for the performance is 7:30 p.m.

Admission is $5 with all proceeds being used to support the Performing Arts Scholarship program at DBCC.
