On March 17, 2006, April will be springing a little early at the Sands Theater Center. The 2003 Tony nominated Best Play, “Enchanted April,” will be opening on the Main Stage. This play by Matthew Barber, from the novel of the same name by Elizabeth Von Arnim, is being directed by Clark Adams. The cast features the ensemble acting talents of Andrea Finkle, Terri Schmidt, Stanley Hoch, William Cashman, Thea LaCour, Cynthia Fielding, and Dee Foster. Alice Camarota is stage managing. This show revolves around two “desperate housewives” in 1922 Hampstead, England who long for “sunshine and wisteria” in Tuscany, Italy during the month of April. Many hilarious situations arise as what ends up to be four ladies make their way on a journey of discovery and gardening! Be on the look out for a chance to put some “enchantment” into your life. Tickets are now on sale, $12 for adults and $6 for students and children. The box office number is 386-736-7456.
Sands Theater Center announces auditions for our season finale musical, PIPPIN. Directed by Darlene J. Stewart, musical direction by Judith Stillman and choreographed by Sandy Barker, this show promises to be a fun and energetic experience. A mixed cast of 20-25 people is needed, all types- must be able to sing, dance (move). Auditioners will be asked to sing, follow a brief choreographed sequence, and read from the script. Auditions will be held on March 26 & 27 at 7 PM at the Sands Theater Center, 600 N. Woodland Blvd, DeLand, FL 32720. Contact Darlene J.
