DeLAND, FL- On Saturday, March 4 at 2:30 PM, The Storybook Theater Company will be presenting “Storywagon: African Tales” in the Black Box theater at The Sands Theater Center. This show offers a story telling journey through the five geographic regions of the African Continent. Folk tales are woven together by the four actors who play a variety of parts to illustrate how diverse and rich the story telling tradition is in Africa. One of the tales features Anansi, the trickster spider, who is a frequent part of African and Caribbean stories. This show is suitable for all ages, and lasts for approximately 50 minutes. The Sands Theater Center is located in DeLand at 600 N.Woodland Blvd. Tickets will be on sale at the door for $8 adults/ $5 children and students. The box office number is 386-736-7456, T-F 12-4 PM.
On Saturday, March 11 at 2:30 PM, The Storybook Theater Company will be presenting “Edgar Allan Poe” in the Black Box theater at the Sands Theater Center. This original play by Timothy D. Turner and Kylie Koscoe explores the events in the life of the eccentric author through dialogues with the parents he never knew and his deceased wife as the motivations for his two classic stories, “The Tell-Tale Heart” and “The Cask of Amontillado.” This show would be suitable for upper elementary students on up, and lasts for approximately 50 minutes.
